04/30/09 -CULTURAL SURREALIST vs. URBAN POP ARTIST

Many have asked me why I've changed my artist description to Urban Pop Artist from Cultural Surrealist. It is because I wanted to be true to what I really produce. I work on many creative projects to make ends meet... I felt that Urban Pop Art encompassed all that I do. I think that this label gives me more freedom for experimentation as well.

02/12/09 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi everyone, I haven't been taking any new projects lately. I am currenly only taking small projects from those who I already have working relationships with. Thank you for your understanding.

12/31/08 - Don't Stop Believing!

Journey with their amazing new singer, Arnel Pineda!

Watch the above video! This guy Arnel Pineda (40 years old) was discovered on Youtube by none other than Neil Schon of Journey. Amazing voice, amazing story... Watch CBS Sunday Morning here about Pineda. The moral of this story is... Keep on doing what you love!

12/12/08 - "I know that you cannot live on hope alone...but without it life is not worth living..."

Above is a quote from a famous speech given by Harvey Milk. I am looking forward to seeing the new film "Milk" starring Sean Penn. First, Harvey Milk was an activist and an all around inspiring character who actually predicted his own assassination but didn't let fear stop him from taking a stand against injustice. Second, I was raised in San Francisco Bay Area and this film was filmed on location. And, third, Sean Penn is one of my favorite actors.

I am a Visual Artist located in New York City with substantial experience in both digital and traditional arts. Murals, portraits, and large size paintings are my specialties.

I am a firm believer in community & youth activism through arts and expression.

I am currently updating this site by utilizing a blog style portfolio page to make it easier for myself to post new works.

I have 2 major goals for 2009: to concentrate on my own artwork for a change and to continue my involvement within the community. So, please look out for some of my original work in 2009.

It's about time.

TAKE ACTION, IT'S EASY!

:: FAQ: How do I get involved in issues that I feel strongly about/
What is the easiest way to take action? ::

This is the most common question that I receive regarding activism. The answer is easy. Taking action is easy.

First, you want to start with yourself. What do you stand for? What is so important to you that you feel the need to take action? Is it global poverty? Or maybe you believe that there should be more art/music in schools. Then, look up already established organizations that deal with these exact issues you are concerned about. Learn as much as you can about these organizations' philosophy and impact. Does it agree with you?

If yes, see what you can do to help. Joining a well oiled machine is the easiest way to get started. Once you get the hang of giving your time, you can branch out. At this point, you are ready to start thinking about how much impact you can make as an individual in unique and creative ways.

Help can take many forms, choose the type of activism that you are comfortable with. Always remember that doing something is better than doing nothing.

You can't please everyone... Remember, not everyone is going to agree with your cause. However, also remember that most people on this earth want to live in a safe/peaceful world. That is the common ground.
